
Granja de Esporles
Occupying a beautiful 10th-century mansion surrounded by the lush vegetation characteristic of the Mallorcan mountains, the Granja de Esporles is a wonderful historical and cultural legacy of Mallorca that strives to keep the island's traditions alive.
In its beginnings, the farm was an old country house of Islamic origin which, later, after the conquest of Mallorca, would be occupied by Cistercian monks, and then passed into private hands.
Exploring the Granja de Esporles
As you walk through the impressive 100,000 square metre (1,076,391 square foot) estate, you'll come across manicured gardens surrounded by lush vegetation with fountains and natural waterfalls.
The mansion is an imposing construction of over 2,000 square metres (21,527 square feet) featuring over 60 rooms adorned with elegant Baroque details. It houses a remarkable collection of traditional Mallorcan furniture, offering significant ethnological value.
A tour of the mansion offers a journey back in time through the rooms that remain intact as if they are still being lived in. The kitchen, the ironing room, the games area, the dining room and the bedrooms are just the appetiser for a feast of perfectly decorated rooms.
At the end of your visit to La Granja de Esporles, you'll have the chance to sample a variety of traditional Mallorcan delicacies in the shop, including local wines, fritters, cheeses, and cured sausages.
