Cala Gat

Set in a beautiful spot in northeast Mallorca, surrounded by pine trees and rocky terrain, Cala Gat is a charming beach that, despite the presence of nearby buildings, still retains its rustic and untouched feel.

Cala Gat runs along Punta de Capdepera, next to the built-up area of Cala Rajada. This area began its expansion in the 1970s, and since then it has continued to grow in popularity until becoming one of the most popular tourist areas in Mallorca.

A Stroll Around Cala Gat

Cala Gat is a small sandy beach which is around 40 metres long (131 ft.) and around 20 metres wide (65 ft.), surrounded by calm turquoise waters and a dense pine forest which offers shade and coolness during the summer months.

Next to the beach, you can visit Sa Torre Cega (the Blind Tower), a watchtower from the 16th century which has been converted into a museum.

It is important to note that it's only possible to reach Cala Gat by car, as there is no public transport option to get there. The beach has free parking and, despite it being a very popular beach, it's usually quite easy to find a spot to park.

Crowded but Worth It

Cala Gat is one of the best beaches in Mallorca and is definitely worth visiting, but due to its great popularity, it can be very, very busy during the summer months. This can make for a bit of a hassle when trying to find somewhere to plant your umbrella in the sand.

If you visit Cala Gat, we recommend heading to Cala Mesquida, one of the other best-known beaches in Mallorca.
