Cala Major is one of the most popular beaches in Mallorca. This wide stretch of soft sand is framed by a striking cliff, though it’s also bordered by large buildings that extend almost to the shoreline—somewhat taking away from its otherwise undeniable beauty.
Located near Palma, the area of Cala Major was built as one of the first tourist locations in Mallorca, so it's a little bit outdated now, but major improvements are being made to modernize the area.

Charming but Overcrowded
Being one of the closest beaches to Palma, Cala Major comes with both the pros and cons that this entails. It's quite complicated to find parking in the surrounding areas, and it is usually quite crowded with people staying in hotels and resorts.
However, if you're staying in Palma and do not have a car to move around the island, you can get to Cala Major beach by bus comfortably and relatively quickly.
