Mallorca Airport

Mallorca Airport

Mallorca Airport is located just 8 kilometres (4.9 miles) from the city of Palma and has a single terminal. It's one of the busiest airports in Spain, with more than 29 million passengers per year.

With more than 29 million passengers per year, Palma de Mallorca Airport is the third-busiest airport in Spain, behind only Adolfo Suárez Airport in Madrid and El Prat Airport in Barcelona.

General Information

Mallorca Airport was inaugurated in the early 1960s, the work of Mallorcan architect Pere Nicolau Bover in the midst of a wave of construction on the island. Since then, it has had a single terminal, formed by four independent blocks and two parallel runways.

The airport is very well-connected to Palma de Mallorca and is not far from the main tourist areas on the island. The Levante motorway connects the airport with the city, and there are also several bus lines.

Many airlines fly to Mallorca, such as American Airlines, British Airways, Eurowings, Jet2, EasyJet, Scandinavian Airlines, Ryanair, Vueling and Iberia.

Transport from the Airport

Rental Car

One of the easiest and most comfortable ways to get around Mallorca is to hire a car. The most common way to do this is to rent a car at the airport.

Transfers

Booking a private transfer from the Mallorca Airport is one of the most comfortable and quickest ways to get to your hotel. With a door-to-door service, you'll get to your destination as quickly as possible, totally stress-free. It can also be an economical option for large groups!

Bus

Bus line A1 connects the airport with the main points of interest in Palma, such as the city centre, the promenade and the port.

This line makes two stops at the airport terminal, in the departures and arrivals areas. The single ticket costs 5 (US$ 5.81) each way or 8 (US$ 9.29) if you buy a round-trip ticket with a card.

The schedule of the bus service that connects the airport terminal has a frequency of between 10 and 20 minutes between 6 am and 1 am (may vary depending on the season).

Those who need to travel to the more touristic areas of the island can also use the TIB buses, which are yellow and connect the airport with the main towns of the Majorcan coast.

Taxi

The airport is located 8 kilometres (4.9 miles) from the centre of Palma, so the journey is short and the price of a taxi does not usually exceed 30 (US$ 34.87). If you're staying in other areas of Mallorca, the taxi is not a recommended option because of its price; in this case, it would be better to travel by bus or a rental car.
