Fundació Miró Mallorca

Fundació Miró Mallorca

Located in a privileged enclave on a hill overlooking the sea and comprising an important collection that includes more than 6,000 pieces, the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró in Mallorca is one of the most important contemporary art spaces in the world.

When he first came to Mallorca, Joan Miró fell in love with the island. It was in 1956 that he decided to settle there, and he remained there until his death. In accordance with the artist's wishes, who wanted everything to remain intact when he was no longer present, you can visit the former workshops where he worked in the museum.

In the modern main building, various works by Miró are displayed in the cosy atmosphere of the unusual building, where the sun shines through the strategically designed windows to create pleasant rooms.

The rear of the Fundació Miró building is enveloped by a pleasant garden decorated with sculptures that blend perfectly with nature to form an inspiring ensemble capable of awakening the senses.

Visit Miró's Workshops

One of the most attractive parts of the museum is where the magic happened, the workshops where the artist worked during his stay in Mallorca. Filled with unfinished works, work clothes and paintings strewn about in the colourful chaos one would expect from an artist, the workshops immerse visitors in Miró's colourful world to offer the most human perspective of the artist.

An Interesting Option

If you want to discover Miró's work and delve a little deeper into his world of impossible shapes and colours, the Fundació Miró in Mallorca is a very complete museum because, as well as showing the artist's works, it goes further by offering the possibility of going into his old workshops.
